Workshop “Do it your way – Authentic Visibility for Women in Science”
In early November, with a follow-up session in December, we – three (associated) PhD students from miTarget – participated in the online workshop “Do it your way – Authentic Visibility for Women in Science” by Dr. Julia Rathke.
The workshop was jointly organised by the PMI Cluster of Excellence together with RU miTarget, RU PlantsCoChallenge, RTG TransEvo, CRC 1182, CRC 1261, and CRC 1461. It provided a general overview of professional visibility in academia, including academic positioning and narrative building, networking strategies, strengthening digital presence (LinkedIn), science communication, and digital resilience (including dealing with hate speech). The online format combined interactive input sessions with guided reflection, group exercises, and moderated peer exchange.
Overall, it is important that the scientific community continues to create initiatives with tangible, practical impact to genuinely advancing gender equality in science by removing systemic barriers and providing career-advancing resources. We appreciate the opportunity to focus on such an important topic.
