International Women’s Day at Kiel University

On the occasion of International Women’s Day on 08 March, a series of lectures by women from the Faculty of Engineering at Kiel University will be held for the first time this year. Female students, staff and professors of the Faculty of Engineering will present their research or speak about their everyday life as a researcher or as a staff member in a total of 20 lectures from 7:45 to 20:55.

It starts with a lecture on biosensors, which can help in the early detection of diseases and identification of infections in the future.

This is followed by contributions on Parkinson’s therapy, science on the web, the smart cycling glove and the importance of gamification for decision-making processes, among others. The day will end with a lecture on pseudo-random numbers, explaining the important topic of “Computers and Randomness”.

The lectures on mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology (STEM) are intended to appeal to people from all age groups and do not require any prior knowledge.
