PINT OF SCIENCE Festival

Pint of Science is coming to Kiel!

Pint of Science is a worldwide science festival which brings researchers to local bars to share scientific discoveries with all types of audiences. Every year in May volunteers organise events in different cities, motivated by their passion for science communication: in fact, lots of great and interesting work is done inside research institutes and we believe it should be shared with the world! The topics presented are from a variety of fields, such as biology, philosophy, archaeology, and many more.

Since 2020 the Cluster of Excellence PMI supports the festival in Kiel. This year, the festival events in Kiel will be held on May 22nd at Studio Filmtheater and on May 23rd at Hansa48.

On Monday 22nd we got a fantastic line-up of presentations on three fascinating topics: the evolution of cooperation and the role of reciprocity in shaping society; the exciting future of a carbon-neutral world; the role of AI in exacerbating social inequalities. On tuesday 23rd we will focus on three equally captivating topics: the secrets of volcano-triggered tsunamis; the mysterious world of marine insects; the wonders of materials. Our expert speakers will take you on a journey through the latest research and discoveries in these fields, sharing their insights and answering your burning questions.

But that’s not all! We’ve also got a pop quiz with nice prizes, a raffle with amazing giveaways, and plenty of opportunities to meet new people and make new friends over a cold beer. Whether you’re a science buff, or just looking for a great night out, Pint of Science has something for everyone. Please note that the events will be held in English. So, mark your calendars, invite your friends, and get ready for a night of science and celebration that you won’t forget!

See you there!
